Proper Nutrition is Essential for Health
-
In these times of increasing health care costs and economic
uncertainty, it's more important than ever to know how to
maintain health to prevent disease, and how to promote
health in the face of disease.
-
The common symptom in every disease is the loss of health,
and it is the one symptom that is routinely overlooked by
conventional health care.
-
Health is a state of being where all organs and systems are
operating normally in a balance with each other.
-
Proper
nutrition is essential for health, and nutritional needs can
vary greatly depending on age, race, gender, stress and
activity levels.
-
Any
disease can be made worse if nutrition is insufficient to support
health. This is particularly true in chronic
disease where nutritional deficiencies are common.
-
Prescription medications rarely address nutritional
concerns and may increase the risk of malnutrition
from side effects of nausea, vomiting, decreased
appetite, taste alterations or malabsorption of nutrients.
Drug side effects are
often treated with more drugs as one drug leads to another.
-
Nutrition assessment should be routine in every patient's
care to
rule out the possibility that symptoms may be related to nutritional
insufficiencies.
Assessments and Consultations
-
Nutrition Consultation identifies main areas of diet or
digestive imbalance which may increase the risk of
nutritional insufficiency, and provides basic
information on how to address these concerns.
-
Nutrition Assessment provides a comprehensive
written analysis and discussion of nutritional strengths and
weakness, potential drug toxicities, drug-nutrient
interactions, needed dietary revisions, dietary supplements,
meal planning and recommendations on how best to promote
optimal nutritional health.
